My concentration series will be about my experimentation with color and long exposure light shots. I will take photos with a wide variety of color and light. I think light and color go well together because they influence each other so much. I love using color in my work because I find it visually interesting and fun to work with.

Week 5
This week I took my photos and layered them to create a more original effect. My favorite photo might be the top photo. I want to layer my long exposure images with colorful images. I'm going to Mexico next week and I hope to get a lot of good colorful images. I want to take more long exposure with gloves that light up to I can make a more custom design with the light.

Week 4
This week I took pictures with steel wool photography. To do this I put my camera on an exposure of 90 seconds and I put my ISO to 200. Then I put steel wool at the end of a whisk with a rope on it and lit the steel wool on fire. This makes a sparkler effect and you can fling the rope around to make the sparks go in any direction you want. I had a lot of fun doing this. I want to try this in a city or at the train tracks. I also want to buy lighter woven steel wool because it will create more sparks. I went down to the sand spit at night to take these pictures. I want to try this again next week, but at the train tracks.

Week 2
This week I took pictures with paint and my hand. I used a blue light in the background to add effect to the colored light. I also included a long exposure picture and a picture of eyes looking through a bright red scarf. In this set of pictures I tried to include more color instead of just long exposure. I feel like I have to different concentration ideas right now and they aren't cohesive, but over time when I can edit my pictures so they work better together. I wanted to try doing steel wool photography and star trailing. I want to just get more creative with the long exposure shots. I am going to try to take those shots this weekend.

Week 1
For the beginning of my concentration series I experimented with taking long exposure shots. I had some trouble at first with the long exposure and trying to get my camera to focus, but I had more success toward the end of my photo shoot. It was really cold when I was taking my pictures, so I wish I had spent more time getting my camera setting right. I liked the result of a few of my photos, but I wish I had more time to edit them before posting them. I had a lot of fun being creative with the flashlight and experimenting with different techniques. One thing I learned was the longer you hold the light in one spot, the brighter it becomes in the photo. I tried driving my car up the switchbacks, experimenting with headlights, and taillights. I think my images could have a lot different effect if I spent some time editing them in Photoshop.
